I just saw the Se5 indoor video. I am amazed at the quality of the flight. It flies so gracefully and steadily. Hard to believe its a all sheet plane. Well done.

Thanks Yeap! You just have to build and fly one for yourself. It flies great for a small Pistachio scale model.

Anyways, I have started building more full sheeted Pistachios now, this time 2 Pistachio builds running concurrently. First up is a prototype testbed build of a Fokker D7 based on a reduced Comet plan to 8" wingspan. Dunno how it will fly though, should be interesting.

As usual color concept would be the Red & White variant. Should be a fast build as the actual Fokker D7 has not much scale details such as wire rigging, etc. So far I have gotten the sheets sanded to appropriate thickness, parts cut out, and doing assembling (all in all only 2 nights of work, quite a personal record in terms of building pace), and I am almost ready for painting time.

The Bristol Scout will follow in a couple of days.

Pictures of builds will follow soon!

Here are the pictures as promised on my current Pistachio Fokker D7 build. All in 2 nites work! Quite a fast build.

Next up, airbrush/painting time (fun time) & assembling.

After some airbrushing and assembling. The red and white variant Fokker D7 is coming along just fine. Should be completing everything within the next 2 days!

Can't wait.

Hi

Thats a really quick job.

I am in the midst of a big project. I may give the Se5 a go later. In the meantime do keep the photos coming.

Hey Yeap! Do post some of your coming builds here, ok? Look forward to that.

Yeah, this is my fastest build todate, only 4 nites, and ready for maiden already!

Anyways, here are the completed Fokker D7 pictures as promised. AUW = 4.6g with the 4" plastic propeller. Test glide of the airframe with weight upfront seemed very good. Smooth glide over 12 - 15ft. It will likely to fly faster than the SE5a, which I think in reality suppose to be so. The D7 airframe is less draggy compared to the SE5a.

Here are pictures of the Pistachio Fokker D7 sitting beside its allied enemy SE5a, and my fleet of completed WW1 ff scale models to date.

Did not get any flights of the DVII over the weekend as the indoor hall was occupied. The weather was bad too, family time, and had a round of golf with friends, so pretty much busy, busy busy!

So while waiting for flight report on the little Fokker DVII, I started studying the Bristol Scout plan & did some mind planning on how I am to approach the build. So pictures of the Bristol Scout to come very soon!
:D
Stay tune.

I did a bit of outdoor flying on the pistachio Fokker D7 after work last nite since the indoor hall is unavailable. Needed some slight weight upfront to balance the model. Here's the link on you tube:-

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCGtToveTcw

900 winds on my last 0.065" 8 inch loop produced a stable flight of about 20+ seconds. It was good enough for me for now, as I know I can push it up to the 30+ seconds with more winds (maybe about 1000 winds) just like the pistachio SE5a. Further, there were some slight turbulence & moisture density in the outdoor air last nite after the late afternoon rain. So maybe indoor hall performance would be better, we'll just have to see.
